Pathways to Skill and Success
Employment and training opportunities
CLA offers the following employment and training opportunities. These are:
- “Skilling Queenslanders for Work (SQW)” (funded by the QLD State Government)
- A paid traineeship in either a:
- Certificate I in Conservation and Ecosystem Management, or
- Certificate II in Kitchen Operations
- A paid traineeship in either a:
- “Developing Employment for Youth (DEFY)” (funded by the Paul Ramsay Foundation)
- Paid work experience and training course aimed specifically at supporting the development of young people aged 15-24 living with complex support needs on their journey towards employment.


Employment & Training Skills
Developing Employment for Youth (DEFY)
DEFY, supported by the Paul Ramsay Foundation in collaboration with Community Living Association Inc. and Nundah Community Enterprise Cooperative, provides a 13-week program equipping young people (15-24) with work experience, training, and personal development. This initiative nurtures skills, confidence, and community connections to overcome employment barriers.

Skilling Queenslanders for Work (SQW) is a state-backed initiative forging training pathways for individuals confronting employment hurdles. Since 2016, CLA has successfully steered two SQW projects, enhancing job readiness in sync with local industry demands through robust partnerships with community organisations and employers.
